How to get a job in Dubai on a Visit Visa?

In this post we will share all these details which are required for getting a job in Dubai on a visit visa. We will also look at if it is possible to convert a visit visa to an employment visa.

When we visit Dubai on a visit visa, how can we apply for a job?

There are a few things which most people don't mention, we will mention those points so that you can save your money as well as your time and don't get frustrated emotionally.

Most of us visit a foreign country with the hope of getting a job and if we don't get the job then we get disheartened and we give up. The purpose of this post is to help those people so that they don't have to suffer from this.

Important point here is to prepare in your country before visiting Dubai and do your homework, so that you don't have to waste your time and money and return without getting a job. It is better before visiting Dubai to do your research and home work within your country. And don't wait to apply for the job once you reach Dubai or any gulf location.

The most important thing before applying for a visa and any other formalities, you need to start preparing for the job application right from your country.

So prepare yourself mentally because when you go for a Job/employment things are totally different.

But when you are going for work you focus only on finding a job, you face many problems, your salary is low, your pocket doesn't allow you to entertain yourself as cost of living is high compared to your own country.

It's a common tendency that, Before going to a foreign country we think about only positive things, about currency difference, we will do this or that, and think we will get a job immediately because I am qualified and experienced engineer, or a doctor but in reality nothing happens like this.

That's why you need to prepare yourself mentally, for any drawback, problem or issue. And promise yourself that you won't be demotivated.

Type of Visas

When you are going on a visit visa definitely you will apply through a travel agent. There are two types of visit visas for people who are looking for jobs. There are many different categories like tourist visa, business visa etc.

But here I am talking about visit visas for job hunters. Visa is available for 28 days and the second one is for 3 months, and both have different fees. And the majority of people prefer a 3 months visa as they don't want to come back early because they have spent so much on their visas, travel and other things and even after completing 3 months they don't get a job.

And there is a category of people who visit for a month, with preparation, do their research, before visiting and get a job. So it all depends on your preparation that you do before visiting Dubai and of course it also depends on other factors including the qualification, experience, communication skill and your luck also but preparation is a must.

What kind of preparation is required?

Preparation for the job before coming to the Dubai/UAE will save lots of effort, cost and time. And ultimately it will save you from getting frustrated if you come to Dubai/UAE without preparation.

Most of the jobs in Dubai/UAE are published in the newspapers and all of these newspapers have websites. So before coming to Dubai, make sure you go through these websites and apply through these websites.

Most popular websites for jobs includes:

  1. https://Helpistan.org/

  2. https://Gulfnews.com/

  3. https://Khaleejtimes.com/

  4. https://www.dubizzle.com/

They update the jobs section on a weekly basis, with the titles, requirements and all other details. So make sure that you apply to these jobs before actually coming to Dubai/UAE based on your qualification and experience at least 15 days before moving to Dubai.

Also ensure that you have a valid email address that you can access. As if you are not in Dubai and you don't have a Dubai/UAE number, the only way to connect to you is through email address only and that's the only official means of communication.

While applying you can also mention the dates of your travel to Dubai, for a face to face interview and also mention that email is the preferred mode of communication. Best way to do this is to have a cover letter with your CV and mention these details on the cover letter.

What is the advantage of applying before visiting Dubai on these portals?

Applying online on these portals will save you weeks of time as applying and getting response from the companies takes at least 10-15 days. And if you are in Dubai these 10-15 days will make you frustrated and angered. So it's always better to apply to Dubai jobs while you are in your own country.

Companies receive lots of applications and they take time of around 10-15 days to scan those resumes and shortlist candidates for interviews.

Applying beforehand will also give you an idea on the job market in Dubai. That way you can update/arrange your CV as per the requirements/field you are applying to. And don't forget to add the job title on the title of your CV, as it will have an extra impression on the recruiter for a matching CV and will increase chances of getting the job or making it to the shortlisted candidates.

What to do next?

Now once you have received confirmation of interviews from a few companies, you can travel to Dubai and go for a face to face interview.

For other companies  who have not responded, you must contact them via email or call them to inform them that you are in Dubai/UAE and can come for an interview, companies appreciate that and will schedule an interview with you.

What if you didn't apply to Dubai jobs from your country and are in Dubai?

Many times we don't have time to apply online from our country or don't get reply from companies on our applications and have to travel to Dubai without any offer or confirmation. But even if you didn't research and applied from your country, no problem. Even after landing in Dubai you can do the same with the same way through these portals. There are internet cafes available with very reasonable charges.

You can also try recruiting agencies, they have their own websites and include naukri.com and other recruiting agencies.

Only apply through  them if you have enough time to wait for a job interview call as they take time to respond with suitable jobs. Also note that most of the time, big companies don't hire directly, rather they work with recruiters and these recruiters take rounds of interviews before shortlisting your resume for the company. And this process takes time.

That's why it's important for you to apply while you are in your home country, it will save you time and cost.

Once you get the job then your company will convert your visit visa to employment visa.

How to negotiate your salary for a job in Dubai?

It's the right of every candidate to negotiate the salary they want and deserve. But not everybody is an expert in negotiation, here we will list down few important point you can use to negotiate your salary.

You must negotiate your salary very smartly. Before you come to the discussion for the salary, you shall be prepared with research on the salary that is available for the role, qualifications and experience you are going to work. For this do an online research on the portals for the location, job role and experience wise salary structure in the current market. This will give you an idea of salary structure.

You can use following portals for salary research:

You must search for the role, experience for the job you are applying for, so that you have enough idea of the salary structure available for the same. This is also important as Dubai municipality has also defined the staff quota limitations based on the license, for every kind of organization in Dubai, so that they can't hire more than that limit in a year and they can only request the revision of the quote annually. That quota also defined  the maximum salary for the role but companies are free to negotiate within that limit. For example, their max salary for the role is 5000 dhs and if you are ok with 3500 dhs then they can offer you 3500 dhs but the contract will have the figure of 5000 dhs and you will come to know this later. So be ready with the quota limitations of the job and salary defined for the role before accepting the offer.

All the best for your future job in Dubai

So prepare yourself before visiting Dubai and Save your time and money by following these guidelines. Wishing you a very prosperous career ahead in Dubai. Best of luck.
